No more Holdems

Well not really, but I've come to the conclusion that the NL25/NL50 games on Stars aren't anywhere near as profitable for me as Rush poker or PLO25.

Rush poker still seems to be a fish-fest although the games aren't quite as soft anymore. I do find I enjoy this format more than the regular long-format online game. I often hear people ask if its a fad or how long it will be around, but i think this might be the future of online poker.

An interesting thing I noted while multi-tabling both NLH and PLO recently, was how much more comfortably i can play maniacs in PLO. I was fortunate enough to be sitting snugly to the left of a maniac on a NLH table but still had an awful time finding a playable hand with just two cards. Yet with PLO, there are so many more preflop hand combinations that can profitably call a maniac then either hit the flop extremely hard or be an easy fold.

A broadway wrap

I asked myself in this hand:

"Self, am i happy to jam preflop if someone re-pops me?"

On the flop, i then asked myself:

"Self, this is as good as it gets without flopping the nuts. What equity do i have against a variety of hand ranges?".

A little study of this hand is required...

A WTF hand

Villain is a tagfish - super tight preflop, super aggressive on the flop and rarely folds.

Rush Marathon

I played 400 hands straight of Rush poker tonight over maybe an hour or so. I actually didn't feel too bad despite a fairly frustrating session of break-even poker until hand 401 when i doubled up with a set.

In hindsight though, i think a hundred hands then a small break would be higher EV. Just wanted to test my limits.

Where the fish are jumping...

After grinding 100 or so hands on Stars to eventually break even, I thought I'd take a quick dip in the Rush Poker pond. Around 150 hands and a short time later, I finish with a profit of 3 buyins at 25NL.

I guess I've found a new fishing spot for the time being.

Pair and a draw in Rush

I need to run the odds for this hand. I'm curious my equity against his range.
